Despite its poverty, Simmons is a decent enough school - the teachers and administrators mean well, at least, and genuinely care about the kids, doing their level best to inspire them and improve their lives. Naturally, they do this knowing all too well that they'll just have to send most of their kids on to Arthur High, but at the very least, most of the students are still in one piece by the time they finish here.
